[VIDEO] 3 Things You Should Know About The Cheras Mall Shooting Where 2 Men Were Murdered
The latest shooting comes just days after a similar incident in Brickfields.
UPDATE
Two men were shot dead outside a shopping mall in Cheras just after midnight today, 17 June, marking the second fatal shooting in Kuala Lumpur within a week. Here's what we know so far:
1. The two men were shot dead execution-style, right outside the lobby as they were walking to their car
At around 12.15am, the two men were ambushed in front of the shopping mall lobby along Jalan Loke Yew, Cheras. According to eyewitnesses, four men wearing helmets ran towards the victims and opened fire, shooting them in the head and body before fleeing in a Perodua Alza.
The victims, both in their 40s and believed to be from Sibu, Sarawak, died on the spot.
Their bodies were found just metres from their vehicle, reported Berita Harian.
Police and forensic teams are now reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

2. Just three days earlier, a similar shooting happened in Brickfields
On the night of 14 June, a man was shot dead and two others were injured while dining at an Indian high-end restaurant along Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields. The group was eating when two men on a motorcycle rolled up and fired several shots before speeding off, according to CCTV footage seen by SAYS.
One of the victims, a local man in his 30s to 50s, died at the scene.
The other two were rushed to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), one with serious injuries, the other with minor wounds. Brickfields police are also investigating this case under Section 302.
3. Police are looking into whether the cases are linked
Although unconfirmed, the similarities between both shootings — public, firearm-related, and involving multiple suspects — are raising serious questions.
Police have said investigations are ongoing and are examining both incidents from "various angles", including potential connections between the two, according to BH.
Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward, but have also assured the public that there's "no reason for alarm" at this stage.
