Cook Stabbed To Death In Penang After Customer Complains Food Was Not Tasty

The suspect's friend was also stabbed during the chaos.

A minor complaint about food quality turned deadly at a Thai-style restaurant in Seberang Perai, Penang on Sunday, 16 November

The incident took place around 9pm when a female cook was fatally stabbed during a confrontation with dissatisfied customers.

According to the New Straits Times, a group of men, believed to be intoxicated, had visited the eatery around 8.30pm and began complaining that the dishes served were not tasty.

The argument escalated between the customers and the cook, a Myanmar national in her 40s, and her husband

When the cook asked the group to leave, one of the men, in his 30s, allegedly contacted his brother before returning to the restaurant to attack the victim.

The woman died at the scene, while her husband, also a Myanmar national, was injured during the altercation.

During the chaos, a friend of the suspect was also stabbed

Police subsequently arrested the suspect and his brother to facilitate investigations.

Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
