Cable Thieves Crash Hilux Into Kedah Woman’s House In High-Speed Police Chase

Two suspects led police on a high-speed chase from Perak to Kedah before crashing into a village house belonging to an elderly woman in Baling, Kedah
According to Harian Metro, the suspects fled into a forest, leaving behind 20 rolls of stolen utility cables after crashing their silver Toyota Hilux through the front wall of the woman's house.
The incident took place at 12.20am on 7 March in Kampung Parit Panjang.
Maimumah Idris, 76, and her daughter, Nasriah Baharom, 34, were sleeping in the living room during the incident. They did not sustain any injuries.

Baling district police chief Supt Brandon Richard Joe said the chase began in Gerik, Perak, when officers from the district police headquarters spotted the suspects' vehicle
The driver, suspected of involvement in a cable theft case, then led police a high-speed chase towards Kedah.
Patrol cars from Gerik, Pengkalan Hulu, and Baling joined the pursuit.
After the crash, the two male suspects escaped into the nearby forest, leaving behind a trove of evidence.

They also discovered a mobile phone believed to belong to one of the suspects.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
If found guilty, offenders could be fined up to RM15,000 and face a jail term of up to five years.
The suspects are also being investigated for theft and obstructing a public servant, which carries a potential fine of RM10,000.
