A man recently went viral on TikTok after sharing a tongue-in-cheek comparison between Malaysia and the UK
TikTok user @greggetseverywhere posted the video two days ago, sharing his take on five things that the UK supposedly does "much, much better" than Malaysia.
Turns out, most of his points were actually backhanded compliments to Malaysia.
Coming in at #5 was his take on the crime rates in Malaysia versus the UK
The creator sarcastically claimed that while Malaysia is "boring" because people can walk around safely, those in the UK prefer to "live dangerously".
According to him, those in the UK risk getting stabbed (or even shot) the moment they step outside their homes.
At #4, he said that the UK has bland food and "doesn't know how to use seasonings", unlike Malaysia
"And that's despite the fact that we [British] spent centuries voyaging around the world stealing said spices — we never use them," he said.
He proceeds to "boast" about how the UK excels at offering bland food, unlike Malaysia, which "insists" on dishing out meals bursting with spices and layers of flavour.
For #3, he observed that Malaysians are way more peaceful and united when watching sports together
He teased that Malaysians are "boring", since in the UK, someone will inevitably end up unconscious.
"How can you possibly be enjoying yourself if you don't end up in a fight?" he asked.
At #2, the man joked that the British excel at speaking just one language
He pointed out how many Malaysians are multilingual and are able to communicate with each other properly.
However, in the UK, they "learn one language and that's it — and then we go around the world and we just shout that language at people and expect them to understand".
For his final point, he actually raised a pressing yet constructive comment about the management and treatment of stray animals in Malaysia
He said the UK faced a stray animal epidemic several decades ago, but gradually dealt with it through action, educational programmes, and proper pet ownership laws, among others.
He said that while stray animal issues still existed in Malaysia, it was an issue that could be rectified.
He ends the video by sarcastically commenting that he doesn't know if the UK can improve on the points he raised.
