A 60-year-old grocery shop owner in Changsha, China, has become a local hero for an act of kindness she has performed every single night for the last 13 years
Sun Meihua, affectionately nicknamed the "street light aunty", has kept the lights outside her shop on all night since 2012.
According to South China Morning Post, the simple gesture began after a group of young women mentioned that the light made them feel more secure when returning home late from work.
Since that day, Sun has never turned the light off. She even adjusted her shop's closing time to 2am and has occasionally walked timid girls home to ensure their safety.

Her generosity extends beyond providing a guiding light.
Sun also moved her home's landline phone into her shop, allowing the neighbourhood's elderly residents and young children to make free calls to their families
She said many are unfamiliar with mobile phones or are not allowed to bring them to school.
The phone is used so often that she has to replace the set every year, but she has no plans to stop the service.
Her kindness also extends to keeping spare keys for her neighbours, free of charge.

"I trust Meihua," an elderly neighbour said, adding that she turns to Sun whenever she needs help
Sun and her husband, who have lived in the area for over two decades, once struggled financially and relied on help from their community.
She said her actions today are her way of repaying the kindness she was shown.
"I just want to help those in need," Sun shared.
