A police car chase in Ipoh, Perak on early Sunday morning, 7 September, led to the discovery of a woman's body in the suspect's vehicle

According to a statement on Sunday, Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said a patrol unit from the Simpang Pulai police station detected a suspicious vehicle during a crime prevention patrol in Taman Desa Pakatan at around 1.15am.

The suspect reportedly sped off when officers attempted to stop the vehicle, leading to a car chase that ended at an oil palm plantation.

"During the attempted arrest, a struggle broke out between the suspect and police. In the incident, a police officer was shot in the abdomen by the suspect, who had managed to grab his pistol," said the police chief, adding that the officer was also stabbed before the suspect fled with the firearm.

The 26-year-old corporal is currently in stable condition and receiving treatment at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun.
