A 20-year-old woman has been hospitalised after she was stabbed at a private university in Subang Jaya on Monday, 14 July, allegedly by her ex-boyfriend

Subang Jaya police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the incident occurred around 6.30pm.

The victim, a foreign student, suffered slash wounds to the left side of her neck and was rushed to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, where she remains in stable condition, reported the New Straits Times.

Her alleged attacker, a 21-year-old foreign man believed to be her former boyfriend, was arrested shortly after the incident, Wan Azlan said.

"The motive behind the attack is still under investigation," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons or means.

Videos of the aftermath quickly went viral, prompting public concern

Shortly after the incident, videos began circulating on social media showing several young women helping the victim.

In one clip, they were seen applying pressure to her neck and trying to keep her conscious while waiting for emergency responders to arrive.

Another clip shows the alleged assailant being pinned down by several male students, one of them restraining the hand still gripping the knife.

Several netizens claimed that the victim had been physically abused by the suspect before the attack. They alleged that she had escaped after being locked in, while others shared disturbing messages and images suggesting he had harmed pets, including a cat and a hamster, using pesticide.

SAYS is withholding the name of the university pending confirmation from the authorities.
