Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has revealed that a 12-year-old girl and her four friends sold lewd photos of themselves online
Speaking at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, 19 August, Saifuddin said the police dismantled the group in an operation earlier this year.
"One of them, just 12 years old, created a website and conspired with four friends.
"They had a WhatsApp group with 762 members. Each child took pictures of parts of their body and sold them on social media.
"Some even dropped out of school because they were earning more than their parents combined," said the minister.

The police were also assisted by the Women, Children and Community Development Ministry, and the Education Ministry, and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
The minister was replying to Jerai MP Sabri Azit, who had asked if the Home Ministry was working with other ministries to address online swingers, which involves married couples sharing partners.
According to Saifuddin, Malaysia has five laws that can be applied to such cases, including the Penal Code, the Communications and Multimedia Act, the Film Censorship Act, Syariah enactments, and the Sexual Offences Against Children Act when minors are involved.
He explained that prosecuting swingers under existing laws differs from handling cases involving children, as the latter should not be heard in open court.
The ministry, he added, will seek input from various agencies and NGOs on how best to manage cases involving minors.
