Many people choose to travel long distances via KTM intercity trains because they are comfortable, cost-effective, and less tiring than driving

However, not many people realise that Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) also offers more premium options, including private charter trains that provide a far more exclusive travel experience.

Recently, lifestyle content creator @ziafmihar shared his experience of travelling on one of these lesser-known trains on Threads.

In his post, he showed the interior of the train, which appeared modern, spacious, and fully equipped — prompting some netizens to describe it as "like a moving hotel".

According to Faiz, the train features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a lounge space for relaxation and entertainment

The lounge area also includes facilities such as karaoke, while passengers have access to a large pantry during the journey.

The rooms appear spacious and comfortable, while the bathrooms look modern and clean, resembling facilities commonly found in hotel rooms.

It is understood that this exclusive train is known as the Saloon Coach

However, to enjoy this train service, passengers must charter the entire coach to enjoy the experience. It is not a carriage available on standard trains.

The lifestyle influencer shared that the Saloon Coach can be booked for group travel or special events, offering passengers a more private and exclusive journey.

The post quickly caught the attention of many, with some expressing surprise that KTMB offers such a luxurious option, giving people a new perspective on rail travel experiences in Malaysia.

According to another netizen who previously booked the Saloon Coach, a return journey from KL Sentral to Hat Yai reportedly cost around RM20,000.
