If you've been scrolling the Internet lately, you might've seen people positively roasting this little squishy animal

Everyone's been hilariously commenting things like "it's the 'etc' on the mammals list" or "bro is just flour, eggs, and milk," and honestly… same. No one knows what it actually is.

Meet the hyrax. Small, round, and kinda like someone smooshed a guinea pig, a koala, and a potato together. That's it.
A total cutie pie.

Hyraxes are really fascinating. They live in tight-knit groups and communicate with all sorts of funny squeaks.
They make a strange 'awawa' sound.
Listen here:
Fun fact: Despite looking like a rodent, their closest relatives are actually elephants and manatees.
Yup. That little "flour, eggs, and milk" blob is distant elephant royalty.
Hyraxes live mostly in Africa and the Middle East, often on rocky hills, cliffs, or even in dense forests

They're perfectly adapted to these habitats, hopping nimbly across rocks and crevices despite their round, potato-like bodies.
These social little guys usually hang out in groups called colonies. During the day, they love to bask in the sun like tiny furry loungers.
Some species are even known to sunbathe in neat little stacks, piling on top of each other for warmth and social bonding.

Diet-wise, hyraxes are herbivores. They munch on leaves, fruits, bark, and shoots.
And despite their cute, harmless appearance, hyraxes have surprisingly sharp teeth, perfect for chomping through tough plant matter.
The hyrax's unique look is exactly what gives it its charm. Adorable, confusing, and unintentionally hilarious.
So, the next time you see that mysterious little blob popping up on your feed, you'll finally know what it is.
