In the Malaysian Women's category, Chua crossed the finish line at Stadium Merdeka in 3:05:40, beating defending champion Noor Amelia Musa (3:09:03) and Lee Siok Chin (3:11:07).

"I would say that I'm very satisfied with this win. One reason is, of course, I hit my goal. It also gives me a performance check of the local scene — how well my body adapts and reacts to these kinds of conditions," he said, as quoted by Bernama.
Meanwhile, Chua, 34, shared with KLSCM that she came into the race focused on improving her time rather than chasing victory.
"I came in today focused on setting a good time — my goal was not to win but to fight the clock. Winning the race was a nice surprise because I have been losing to Amelia by a few seconds in our other races this year. I did not expect to overtake her today," she said, adding that the route was well-organised.
Meanwhile, in the Men's Open category, Kenya's John Nzau Mwangangi clinched first place in 2:17:28, followed by compatriots, Kiprotich Kirui (2:17:45) and Vincent Kiprono (2:18:06)
The Women's Open title went to Truphena Chepchirchir of Kenya, who finished in 2:41:36, ahead of Ethiopia's Almaz Negede Fekade (2:41:50) and Kenya's Joyline Chemutai (2:42:34).
Both Mwangangi and Chepchirchir received medals and a USD15,000 (RM63,090) cash prize each.
