Wong Tat Meng, a prominent Malaysian singles coach known for shaping badminton stars, including Lee Zii Jia, is in critical condition after a motorcycle crash in Sydney, Australia
He was involved in a collision on Putty Road in the Garland Valley region on Sunday, 7 September, which tragically claimed the life of another motorcyclist, 58, at the scene.
Paramedics treated Wong before he was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he remains in intensive care, according to the New Straits Times.
Wong, an avid biker, had recently moved to Sydney to continue his coaching career at a local club
Former international badminton player Datuk James Selvaraj confirmed Wong's ICU status and appealed for support during this difficult time.
Known for his dedication and experience, Wong has left a lasting mark on Malaysian badminton, mentoring athletes to international success over the years.

Outside of badminton, Wong is known for his passion for motorcycles
On his Instagram page, where he has nearly 20,000 followers, he often shares videos and reflections from his rides.
In a post last week, he documented a seven-day journey along the Great Ocean Road, spanning nearly 2,900km, sharing moments of coastlines, mountains, and town visits, and reflecting on the joy of riding and camaraderie with friends.
"From the curves of the Great Ocean Road to the quiet strength of the Twelve Apostles… every day carried its own story," Wong wrote.
"It wasn't just about the distance — it was about the moments: sharing a meal with old friends, standing at lookouts in silence, chasing the horizon, and letting the road remind me why I ride."
Fans and fellow athletes have already begun sending messages of support, hoping for his recovery as Wong remains in critical care.
