Pizza Hut released the new Durian Cheese Pizza earlier this month and we'll be honest… it sounds kinda gross, yet delicious???
We were conflicted! That flavour combination of durian and cheese on top of a pizza made a lot of people confused (and slightly worried).

From the moment we picked up our delivery order, we were immediately hit with that unmistakably pungent durian smell. Yum!

We dived right in and were all impressed with the sheer amount of delicious cheesy goodness.

What surprised us was that the cheese and durian actually balanced each other out, and the flavours worked really well together!
Some of us felt it was a sweet dessert like durian cheesecake (but without the cake), while others thought of it as a savoury durian dish because of the saltiness of the cheese.

It tastes creamy and rich. Although we wouldn't mind having MORE durian piled on top. Mmmmmm!

So, is it as good as the OG fruit?
Durian cheese pizza is not the same as pure durian. Obviously. If you want a sweet pizza treat with durian, this is for you!
Just like durian crepe, durian pancakes, durian cheesecake, durian tarts, and any durian dessert… it's not going to taste exactly like the actual fruit.
