PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) just unveiled Café Mesra, a new venture that offers its customers with quality coffee and a food experience with an emphasis on fresh, healthy ingredients, at affordable prices.
During the launch, Chief Executive Officer of Mesra Retail & Café, Ian Malcolm Cruddas said that they look forward to welcoming customers to their cafés.
"We expect to open and operate 50 Café Mesra outlets throughout Malaysia by the end of the year, including standalone cafés and kiosks," he said.

We went on-ground to check out Café Mesra at PETRONAS USJ 20.
And first things first, we had to try the coffee! 😀

PETRONAS is introducing handcrafted barista-quality coffee to its Café Mesra outlets.
And it's not just like any other convenience store's to-go coffees. PETRONAS has actually come up with its own house blend called 'Embun', featuring a mix of Rwandan, Brazilian, and Indonesian coffee beans. The result is a medium dark roast coffee that packs a caffeine punch, but still tastes smooth.
For coffee connoisseurs looking for a unique handcrafted drink, Café Mesra also offers its signature Mesra Latte.

Next, PETRONAS is also introducing two new food concepts at every Café Mesra outlet — Fusion and SayHeart

True to its name, Fusion offers a unique selection of blended cuisine inspired by various cultures. Some of the ready-to-eat dishes include Nasi Goreng Mesra and Nasi Goreng Salsa.
On the other hand, SayHeart (a play on words for sihat) features healthy yet tasty food. Health-conscious customers can look forward to plant-based Ayam Masak Merah with cauliflower rice, gluten-free plant-based burgers, and more.

One of our favourite sections of Café Mesra was its Kuih Bar, featuring all kinds of local delights and some unique treats
What's cool is that all of SayHeart's food items are locally sourced in support of Malaysia's farmers and vendors. In fact, all the kuihs offered are made using all-natural ingredients, following traditional mak cik recipes from Penang. ;P
Personally, we loved the sri muka cempedak and kuih angku kacang merah! Some of the other options incude sri muka durian, kuih lapis beras merah, and talam pandan.
