A woman was fined RM5,000 by the Sepang Magistrate's Court today, 7 October, after pleading guilty to offering illegal transport services using a private vehicle at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2)
According to Harian Metro, the accused, K Kalaivanie, 41, made the plea after the charge was read before Magistrate Khairatul Aminah Jelani.
Kalaivanie was accused of soliciting passengers for an unlicensed public transport service at the KLIA2 arrival hall around 12.50am on 22 September.
The offence falls under Section 205(1) of the Land Public Transport Act (APAD) 2010, which carries a maximum fine of RM50,000, imprisonment for up to five years, or both.

She was arrested during a special "ulat (illegal taxi touting)" operation by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) after being spotted approaching a foreign traveller and attempting to persuade them to use a Perodua Axia she had rented for the illegal service
During the proceedings, JPJ prosecuting officer Bohkhari Mat Yusoff urged the court to impose a higher fine, noting that Kalaivanie had previously been charged for the same offence on 26 September 2023, when she was fined RM4,000.
"Despite that, she appears unremorseful and continues to commit the same offence. Therefore, I request a heavier penalty as a deterrent," he said.
Kalaivanie, however, pleaded for leniency, explaining that she is a single mother caring for two young children and her ailing mother
"My two children are still young, and my mother is ill and requires dialysis. I have no income and only RM3,000 to pay the fine," she told the court.
The court sentenced her to a RM5,000 fine, or five months in jail if she failed to pay. She later settled the fine.
