Most zebras live in herds. Ed lives for the plot.

This black-and-white escape artist was finally captured in a field not far from Nashville, then airlifted by helicopter and returned to an animal trailer.
Video footage of the rescue shows Ed wrapped in a net, with just his head poking out, soaring through the air like a scene from a movie.

It's still unclear how he got loose, but his owners said he went missing on 31 May, just a day after they brought him home
During his week of freedom, Ed was spotted wandering through neighbourhoods, dodging police, wildlife officers, and plenty of traffic.
He trotted past houses, sprinted near highways, and even shut down a highway — because that's what celebrities do.

When they finally caught him, Ed made sure to exit like a superstar
He was airlifted to a waiting trailer, checked by a vet, and declared perfectly healthy.
Speaking to CBS News, his owner — clearly relieved — described it as "a long, stressful week".
But Ed? Let's just say he didn't seem the least bit sorry.
In a later video, he was seen casually trotting out of the trailer, like he hadn't just caused total chaos for the past several days.
And honestly? He might just do it again.
