Rapid KL On-Demand Van Driver Involved In Fatal Jalan Kuchai Maju Crash Suspended

Rapid Bus has confirmed the incident and expressed its condolences to the victim's family.

Rapid Bus has confirmed that one of its Rapid KL On-Demand vans was involved in the fatal crash on Jalan Kuchai Maju on 14 September, which claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman

In a statement issued yesterday afternoon, 18 September, Rapid Bus said the vehicle was operating on the Taman OUG–Kuchai Lama route when it struck the pedestrian.

"The driver involved has been suspended immediately pending investigations."

"We extend our condolences to the victim's family and will provide full cooperation to the authorities in their investigations," the company said.

The fatal incident, which occurred around 12.30pm on Sunday, with the victim dragged more than 10m after being hit

She succumbed to severe injuries at the scene despite efforts by two passing doctors to resuscitate her.

Earlier, the victim's parents and boyfriend told China Press they could not forgive the driver, adding that the family had rejected attempts by the driver's employer to pay respects at her wake.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police have confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death.
