The devastated family of a 26-year-old woman killed after being dragged by a van along Jalan Kuchai Lama on Sunday, 14 September, say they cannot forgive the driver

The victim's parents have also refused to allow the driver or anyone connected to him to pay their respects at her wake, according to China Press.

Her boyfriend told China Press that he had driven his girlfriend and her mother to the area for lunch that afternoon. Since the victim only had a one-hour break, she got out first to order food while he and her mother looked for parking.

"Not long after, I heard a loud bang nearby. At first I thought it couldn't possibly be her, but when I called her phone it wouldn't go through. My heart sank and I rushed over, only to see her lying unconscious in the middle of the road," he said.

Two doctors who happened to be passing by immediately performed CPR on her for more than 30 minutes, but she did not survive.

Police later informed the family that the driver, working for Rapid KL On-Demand vans, claimed he was unaware he had hit anyone

The driver said he only felt something unusual with the tyres, but since he did not see anyone in the rear-view mirror, he did not stop to check.

"Clearly there were long drag marks on the ground. His statement is very contradictory," the boyfriend said.

He described his late girlfriend as the only child and beloved daughter of her family, saying her parents are struggling to come to terms with the loss.

The fatal crash happened at around 12.30pm on 14 September.

She was struck and dragged for more than 10m before succumbing to her injuries.

According to witnesses, the victim's mother was so devastated after seeing her daughter struck that she collapsed from grief

Images and videos of the crash have circulated widely online, showing the van dragging the victim for over 10m.

Witnesses claimed the driver did not stop immediately after the collision and was only stopped by bystanders further down the road.
