Students and teachers across Malaysia will get an extra day off ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri after the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced an additional holiday for 18 March
In a statement issued on 10 March, the ministry said the one-day holiday on Wednesday, 18 March, will apply to all schools nationwide.
"The additional holiday is intended to give teachers, students, and parents the space to make the necessary preparations to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri," the ministry said.

Previously, under the 2026 Academic Calendar, schools in Group A — Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu — were already allocated an additional holiday on 19 March
Meanwhile, schools in Group B, which include Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, and the Federal Territories, were given two additional days off on 19 and 20 March.
With the newly announced holiday on 18 March, students in several states could now enjoy an even longer break as the Aidilfitri holidays overlap with the first school term break.
- For Group A schools, the term break runs from 20 March to 28 March.
- For Group B schools, the term break runs from 21 March to 29 March.
