Yesterday, 6 May, heavy thunderstorms caused flash floods in several parts of Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya
A popular food court in Section 51A, Petaling Jaya was reportedly inundated with floodwaters reaching chest level.
Following the incident, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said it is preparing short-, medium-, and long-term measures to mitigate flash floods in high-risk areas, reported the New Straits Times.
Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud said the intense downpour, particularly in Segambut and Cheras, led to a surge of surface runoff from elevated areas, overwhelming drains and waterways in low-lying parts of the city.
