The driver involved in the crash that killed Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) student Syakirah Hanan Mazli was fleeing a crime at the time of the incident

According to Harian Metro, Kuala Terengganu district police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor said the 32-year-old man had broken into a parked car at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium and stole several items before speeding away.

"The Honda Jazz driven by the man belongs to his younger sibling and was not a stolen vehicle, as circulated on social media.

"Prior to the incident, the man had trespassed into a parked Honda City at the stadium compound and stole several items, including RM200 in cash belonging to the vehicle's owner.

"He then got back into the Honda Jazz and sped off before the accident occurred on Jalan Kemajuan," he said.
