A 25-year-old Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) student died following a two-vehicle collision in Kuala Terengganu today, 5 January
Syakirah Hanan Mazli died on the spot following the accident at the Jalan Kemajuan junction.
According to Harian Metro, the Johor-born student was performing a legal right turn when a speeding vehicle descended a nearby hill and slammed into her car.

The impact was so severe that it caused a nearby electric pole to collapse onto the wreckage
Authorities from the Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene shortly after receiving an emergency call at 1.39pm. They found Syakirah Hanan pinned inside her vehicle.
Firefighters spent approximately 20 minutes extracting the victim while managing hazards such as live electrical wires and a petrol leak.
Operation Commander Mohd Salleh Abdullah from the Kuala Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department said special equipment was required to free the victim from the crushed car.
Preliminary reports suggested the accident was caused by a male driver coming from the direction of Kuala Terengganu city centre.
Witnesses claimed the man was speeding and failed to stop at a red light, ramming into Syakirah Hanan's vehicle as she drove through a green signal.
The unidentified male driver was pulled from his vehicle by bystanders before emergency services arrived.
He was subsequently rushed to Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah for medical treatment, though his current condition remains unknown.
The police have taken over the investigation to determine the exact cause of the fatal incident. Syakirah Hanan's body was handed over to the police for further action.
