One Malaysian woman was left stunned by her roommate from university three years ago, who had what she described as "the worst hygiene she had ever encountered"
The experience left such a lasting impression that, three years later, on Monday, 27 October, she still recalled on Threads about how she would smell something "fishy" whenever her roommate sat cross-legged.
Confronting her about the smell, she soon found out that her roommate was never taught to wipe after using the toilet.
To make matters worse, she also noticed that her roommate would often wear the same underwear for up to two days and saw nothing wrong with that, even when noticing a "greenish-yellow" discharge.
The woman also revealed that when her roommate was on her period, she would soak her bloodied underwear in the toilet bowl and then leave without cleaning it
When the woman texted her about it, the roommate reportedly replied, "You can wash it, I'll come back next week".
The roommate sometimes went up to five days without bathing, choosing only to wash her face and chew gum rather than brush her teeth.
She also ate stale food, not out of necessity, but because she claimed "it tastes better". The woman who shared the story said she tried confronting her roommate, both via text and in person, but the roommate "didn't change at all".
Instead of changing her habits, the roommate reportedly posted sad messages on social media, claiming that "everyone didn't like her".
The post quickly went viral, garnering over 1.1 million views, as Malaysians expressed their disappointment with the woman's ex-roommate and shared their own horror stories about unhygienic housemates

Aside from these comments, most netizens were understandably disgusted by the story. Some commenters admitted they were facing similar issues with their own housemates and asked for advice on how best to confront their roommate. Meanwhile, others were in pure disbelief, accusing the original poster of faking the entire story.
