KLIA's signature Aerotrain, which has been out of service since March 2023, is finally sliding back into action, so no more clambering onto shuttle buses with your luggage in tow
Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirmed the Aerotrain is undergoing its final safety checks, including full emergency-response simulations. If all goes according to plan, the sleek automated ride will resume service at 10am on 1 July.
After more than two years of waiting, travellers can finally say goodbye to the feeder buses — well, almost.

During peak travel hours, two three-carriage train sets (with a total capacity of 270 passengers each) will operate simultaneously
During off-peak hours, from midnight to 5am, only one train will run to allow for scheduled maintenance.
That said, shuttle buses won't disappear just yet. According to the New Straits Times, the buses will remain in service as backup until the Aerotrain reaches full operational efficiency.

The KLIA Aerotrain has been part of the airport experience since 1998, but a breakdown in 2023 brought the system to a halt, disrupting movement between the main terminal and the satellite building
Its return has faced a few delays — it was initially slated for completion in January, then postponed to June.
Still, the timing couldn't be better. With Malaysia currently chairing ASEAN and Visit Malaysia 2026 just around the corner, officials are hopeful the Aerotrain relaunch will streamline internal transfers and offer international guests a smoother first impression of our national gateway.
