The Home Affairs Ministry (KDN) has issued a statement warning the public about false information circulating in an infographic poster claiming to show the new MyKad and passport designs
In a statement yesterday, 13 January, KDN said the viral poster currently circulating on social media is not an official image and was not issued by the ministry.
"The visual designs are fake and do not represent the actual designs of the new passports or MyKad as claimed," it read.
The poster is likely AI-generated, as it contains typos, incomplete parentheses, and distorted words and sentence formatting
It also depicts a passport cover in dark navy blue, which differs from the current red design.

The poster contains typos such as "strengthering", "proctocting", "upan", and "alonghde".

"All official information regarding the designs and security features of these documents will be announced by KDN through official communication channels from time to time.
"The public is reminded to always obtain information from valid and authoritative sources to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of any information," the ministry said on Tuesday.
