A 20-year-old student is recovering in hospital after she was stabbed in the neck by a 21-year-old man at a private university on Monday, 14 July
The attack, which took place on campus around 6.30pm, left the woman, a foreign national, in critical condition.
She was rushed to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre and is currently being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), under close observation.

The suspect has been arrested and remanded
Police have confirmed that the assailant, also a foreign national, believed to be the victim's ex-boyfriend, was arrested shortly after the incident.
He has since been remanded for four days under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to assist in the investigation, reported the New Straits Times.
According to Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, the man was allegedly upset that the victim had made false claims against him.
"The suspect was upset after the victim claimed he had stopped her from leaving the house," Wan Azlan said in a statement.

The university has issued a public statement
In a post on Instagram earlier today, 15 July, the private university said the suspect was immediately apprehended by its auxiliary police.
"The injured student is currently in stable condition. The student's family has been informed, and our priority remains on supporting their well-being and respecting their privacy. We are working closely with the relevant authorities in their investigation and urge everyone to refrain from speculation," the university said.

Videos of the incident spread quickly on social media
Shortly after the stabbing, videos began circulating showing several young women helping the victim. In one clip, they were seen applying pressure to her neck and trying to keep her conscious while waiting for emergency responders to arrive.
Another clip shows the attacker being pinned down by a couple of male students, one of them holding his knife-wielding hand against the wall.
