The Ministry of Education (MOE) has released the 2026 Academic Calendar, announcing that schools across Malaysia will re-open on 12 January 2026, with students in Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu starting a day earlier, on 11 January
According to the schedule, the academic year will comprise 202 school days and 61 holidays.
The ministry's holiday calendar, accessible via their official website, provides a comprehensive breakdown of the school schedule, including important festive breaks, ensuring ample time for students and families to plan for the upcoming academic year.
The ministry has also confirmed additional holiday allocations to accommodate key festive celebrations.

23 May to 7 June 2026 (16 days)

Chinese New Year (17 & 18 February)
MOE has allocated three additional holidays:
Group A: 15, 16, and 19 February
Group B: 16, 19, and 20 February

Group B: 16–20 February (Monday to Friday)
Hari Raya Aidilfitri (21 & 22 March)
