Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has announced stricter monitoring efforts at Taman Tasik Metropolitan Kepong after a motorcyclist's neck was slashed by a stray kite string while riding past the park

As reported by the New Straits Times, DBKL stressed that public safety remains a priority and immediate steps are being taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring.

In a statement, DBKL said it will be installing warning signs along the busy MRR2 highway that runs next to the park to alert both motorists and park visitors about the danger.

"The public is also urged to follow safety guidelines at all times when engaging in recreational activities, including kite flying, especially near roads or traffic routes. Safety should always be prioritised for both oneself and others," it said.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif said the issue is being treated seriously

According to Scoop, she said more complaints have been lodged since the initial incident went viral on Monday, 21 July.

"Measures are also being put in place to prevent similar incidents in future. Kite-flying will be restricted to designated zones around the lake and kept away from major roads," she said.

She added that action will also be taken against unauthorised vendors selling kites along the main road.
