Civil servants living within a 25km radius of their workplaces will be allowed to work from home (WFH) during the upcoming ASEAN Summit later this month

In a statement today, 13 October, the Public Service Department (JPA) said heads of departments (HODs) have been authorised to approve WFH requests from 23 to 28 October to ease the impact of expected traffic congestion during the international event.

Eligible civil servants are encouraged to discuss their requests with their respective HODs for consideration, JPA added.

"The implementation of this policy must adhere to existing procedures and conditions set under current regulations," the department said.

JPA explained that the initiative aims to balance government operational needs with the wellbeing of civil servants, in efforts to maintain a healthy work-life balance
