The celebrity ustaz recently accused of sexual assault by PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar has been officially charged

Confirming the charge, federal police Sexual, Women, and Child Investigations Division (D11) principal assistant director SAC Siti Kamsiah Hassan said a total of eight police reports had been lodged against the preacher.

According to her, seven of the cases took place in Penang, while one occurred in Kedah.

The reports against the ustaz were lodged between 2023 and 2025

"The sexual assault cases involving the celebrity preacher in Penang are currently under trial.

"All the victims are male teenagers aged between 13 and 16," she told the New Straits Times.

Nurul Izzah recently took to social media to raise awareness about the case and pledged legal support for one of the victims

She said the victim, a boy from a B40 family, was allegedly lured under the pretence of watching a nasyid performance with the preacher in a hotel room.

It is understood that the accused had also filed a lawsuit against the victim's family for lodging a police report against him, demanding financial compensation and a public apology.

Nurul Izzah also pointed out that although multiple reports had been filed against the well-known religious figure, no action had been taken.
