An express bus driver seen operating a vehicle with a woman seated on his lap in a viral video has been sacked
In a statement yesterday, 13 April, Sri Maju Group confirmed the driver was its employee and said the incident occurred on 12 April on a bus travelling from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan to Larkin, Johor.
Footage recorded by a passenger appears to show the woman sitting on the driver's lap and handling the steering wheel, while a separate dashcam video from another vehicle allegedly shows the bus swerving through traffic.

The company described the incident as "deeply disappointing, alarming, and completely unacceptable", stressing that passenger safety and comfort remain its top priority
"The behaviour shown in the video is a serious violation of our SOPs and does not reflect the professional standards we uphold," it said.
Sri Maju said it has terminated the driver with immediate effect
The company added that it has lodged a police report and reported the matter to the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), assuring full cooperation with the authorities in the ongoing investigation.
It added that it is taking steps to enhance onboard video surveillance systems to improve passenger safety.
It reiterated that it does not tolerate any conduct that could endanger passengers and pledged to take all necessary measures to prevent similar incidents.
