7-year-old boy Muhammad Ammar Muhammad Badrul has died from severe head injuries a week after he was brutally assaulted by his uncle
According to Harian Metro, the incident happened at 5.15pm last Thursday, 25 September, when the boy's uncle struck him with a hammer at a shophouse in Jelawat, Kelantan.
He was rushed to Universiti Sains Malaysia Specialist Hospital (HPUSM) for treatment, where he remained under care until passing away at 3.02pm today, 1 October.
"Assalamualaikum, my son Muhammad Ammar has returned to his origin. Please recite Al-Fatihah for him," his father, Muhammad Badrul Rameli wrote in a social media post today.
His mother, Nur Ayuni Mohd Kamarulzaman, also confirmed the heartbreaking news in a WhatsApp status message.

Despite knowing his condition was critical, she clung to hope that her eldest child would regain consciousness.
The boy received more than 50 stitches following the attack, which caused extensive bleeding and swelling in his brain.
The uncle fled the scene after the assault but was found dead near a casuarina tree, about three kilometres from the incident site at a shop lot in Pantai Melawi on the same day.
