The three siblings who were placed in a welfare home in Teluk Intan, Perak, have vowed to study hard to repay their father's love and sacrifice

Earlier, it was reported that 40-year-old lorry driver Huang Guowei, a single father, made the heartbreaking decision to send his children — aged 5, 7, and 9 — to the Jaz Home Orphanage Welfare Organisation due to financial hardship.

Earning around RM2,600 a month, Huang said it had become increasingly difficult to make ends meet and provide for them.

On 13 October, he brought them to the home to ensure they would be well cared for and continue their education.

The eldest child, known only as Xuan, said she and her siblings are not sad, but grateful to have been placed at the welfare home

"Here, we've made new friends and can do activities like studying together. Most importantly, my two siblings and I are not separated.

"When we grow up, we want to help our father and lighten his burden. So, we want to study hard and go to university so we can get good jobs," she told Kosmo! on Sunday, 19 October.

The centre's chairman, Kong Sun Chin, said the siblings are adjusting well to life at the welfare home

According to him, as reported by Sin Chew Daily, the children are settling in well due to their good personalities and prior experience of living in another children's home in Kuala Lumpur.

"But when their father could no longer afford the fees there, he brought his children here after learning about our centre. Coincidentally, the father is originally from Teluk Intan.

"We accepted his request to take in the children without any payment, considering his current difficult situation," Kong was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.

The chairman also explained that the father is free to visit or bring his children home at any time

Kong added that the centre currently homes 43 orphans and children from underprivileged families.

Established in 2009, the home initially relied on its own funds before receiving public donations and grants from government agencies.

"We send the children to school and also provide tuition classes to help them excel. Many of the children who have stayed here have successfully pursued higher education, and some are even continuing their studies at the Master's level," he said.
