A single father overwhelmed by financial hardship has made the heartbreaking decision to send his three young children to a welfare home in Teluk Intan, Perak, in hopes of giving them a better life
The man, 40-year-old Huang Guowei, works as a lorry driver at a construction company in Kuala Lumpur, earning about RM2,600 a month.
Despite his best efforts, he said it has become impossible to provide for his children — aged 5, 7, and 9— on his limited income.
The emotional moment when Huang left his children at Jaz Home was captured by Sin Chew Daily on Monday, 13 October.

Before turning to the welfare home, Huang had placed his children at a non-profit children's home in Kuala Lumpur, where he was asked to contribute RM400 a month
"To pay this, I lived frugally — only drinking coffee for breakfast, bread for lunch, and rice for dinner. After my appeal, they allowed me to pay RM300, but I still couldn't afford it," he told reporters.
Even with his sacrifices, the cost became too heavy.
Huang shared that his two daughters and youngest son should be attending kindergarten and primary school, but at the previous home, they were only attending church classes.

He hopes that by moving them to the home in Teluk Intan, they can live more comfortably and have access to proper education
"I will return to Kuala Lumpur for work and visit my three children in Teluk Intan from time to time," he said.
Huang married a Vietnamese woman he met in Teluk Intan in 2016, but after years of growing disagreements, the couple divorced in May 2024, with Huang receiving full custody of their children.
Jaz Home chairman Jiang Shunjin assured that the children will be enrolled in school soon, adding that the home will also be applying for assistance from the Social Welfare Department (JKM).
"Some fathers may not be so wealthy, but they posses the greatest paternal love. They travel so far just to give their children a safe home," said Jiang.
