Genting Got Nature Trail Meh? Yes, And You Might See Dusky Langurs, Hornbills & More

Genting Highlands may be known for its theme park, shopping, casinos, or as a "quick getaway for some cold air", but what you might not know is that it also offers a nature experience

Tucked just behind Resorts World Awana is a little-known gem: Genting Nature Adventures (GNA), a guided eco-experience that'll make you see the resort hill in a whole new light.
Managed by Resorts World Genting, GNA transforms a casual stroll into a fun rainforest journey, complete with expert nature guides, wildlife sightings, and a peek into one of Malaysia's last accessible cloud forests.

Visitor Tan Kuan Chuen shared in a recent video that the guides even told them about a black panther named Charlie that calls this forest home.
As long as there's enough food and minimal development, Charlie will stay. But ongoing construction nearby has been slowly pushing lower-land animals uphill, a subtle reminder that even paradise faces pressure.

The Clearwater Way is GNA's signature guided route, a 6km journey (round trip) that combines walking with buggy rides
It starts from Awana Genting, running daily at 9am, and lasts between 60 to 120 minutes depending on your pace and photo stops.
The fee is RM60 per hotel guest or RM75 for non-hotel guests, and applies to visitors aged 7 and above.

What you'll get for that price:
- Close-up encounters with rainforest life (from giant ferns to pitcher plants)
- Educational commentary by knowledgeable guides
- A chance to spot siamang (the largest of the gibbons), dusky langurs, slow lorises, tapirs, pig-tailed macaques, and even great hornbills soaring overhead
It's a calming, deeply Malaysian experience, and a reminder of the wild beauty right in our backyard.

If you prefer to explore at your own pace, the non-guided Awana Trail offers a shorter, 2km route, taking 45 to 60 minutes
Entry slots run daily from 8am to 11.45am (last entry at 2pm after a lunch break).
The fees are RM20 for hotel guests and RM35 for the general public.
It's a more laid-back way to experience the highland forest, with birdsong, misty air, and the gentle crunch of leaves under your shoes. Don't worry, it's beginner-friendly too.

Every Friday and Saturday at 7pm, the Genting Night Safari lets you explore the forest after dark
Guided buggy rides last 90 to 120 minutes, featuring nocturnal wildlife sightings and educational stories under the stars.
Fees are RM60 per person (hotel guests) or RM75 per person (general public), and advance reservations are required.

Genting Malaysia manages over 10,000 acres of virgin rainforest, including Peninsular Malaysia's most accessible cloud forest
These forests host more than 460 species of higher plants, from rare orchids and montane pitcher plants to wild conifers and native highland tea.
Wildlife includes siamang, serow (wild mountain goats), a black panther, slow lorises, helmeted hornbills, and endangered tapirs.
Visitors also pass through an ex-situ conservation area, where rare species are relocated from development zones to safer grounds.
These conservation efforts are conducted with Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) to protect biodiversity long-term.

Advance booking is highly recommended for the nature trails
