This old-school getaway near Ipoh has been quietly charming locals for years

Tucked away about 30 minutes from Ipoh town, Lubuk Timah Waterfall is a natural retreat that combines two of Malaysia's best elements: waterfalls and hot springs.

Originally the site of a colonial-era dam, it's now a beloved recreational park where you can go to cool off, dip into healing waters, or just enjoy some much-needed greenery.

Expect a lush, laid-back vibe with shady trees and rushing water like you're in Animal Crossing

The waterfall is wide and strong enough for a refreshing splash. The entire place has a kampung-style atmosphere, with open spaces for picnicking and small bridges connecting areas across the flowing stream.

You'll hear the gurgling water as soon as you arrive, and the backdrop of forested hills makes everything feel like a serene pause from the everyday hustle.

Say bye to burnout with the warm, shallow hot springs, perfect for relaxing

Unlike modern spas, this is a back-to-nature experience. Just clean mineral water and peaceful surroundings.

Each pool varies in temperature, with natural spring water flowing from the ground to soothe those stubborn backaches.

Want to turn your quick trip here into a short staycation? Cosy chalets are available right on site.

Most are simple but clean, with air-conditioning, beds, and basic facilities, ideal for that friends' trip plan that desperately needs to make it out of the group chat.

It's a nice alternative to camping if you want to experience nature without giving up a proper bed and roof.

Craving a little more action? There are a few fun activities here too, besides dipping in the waters.

The park area offers fun mini-adventures like archery, horse riding, tree-top obstacle courses, and ATV rides.

These are often seasonal or vendor-run, so availability may vary, but they're cool for a little kick of sportiness if you're up for it.

There's also a surau, toilet facilities, food stalls, and rental gazebos if you're planning a longer day trip with your friends or family.
