Would you have guessed that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad — Malaysia's longest-serving prime minister who has led the nation, modernised the country, and weathered countless political storms — loves watching cat videos?
Well, according to Muar member of parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, it's true — and he's even caught Dr Mahathir doing just that in the middle of a Parliament sitting.
In a cheeky Facebook post yesterday, 10 July, celebrating Dr Mahathir's 100th birthday, Syed Saddiq shared what he called Tun M's "biggest secret".
"In conjunction with Tun @chedetofficial's 100th birthday, I think it's time I reveal Tun M's BIGGEST SECRET…
"The secret to how he stays young, healthy, and super chill even while battling it out in Parliament.
"The answer is… TUN M WATCHES CAT VIDEOS!" he wrote.
Syed Saddiq posted two amusing photos showing Dr Mahathir's screen filled with feline content
One was a YouTube video titled 'Cats That Aren't Afraid of Water', while the other featured a funny-looking orange cat.
The Muar MP added that this wasn't a one-time thing — he's seen it happen many times, with Dr Mahathir even chuckling to himself while watching.
"This was taken in Parliament a few years ago. While the whole country is heating up… Tun's just chilling, watching fearless kittens jumping around in water," he joked.
Syed Saddiq ended the post with a warm birthday message:
"Happy 100th birthday, Tun. May you stay forever young and savage."
