If you've ever been stuck in traffic, Murty might be the perfect artiste to stream on Spotify and turn your ride into a mini concert
Born and raised in Kajang, the 33-year-old singer, songwriter, and standup comedian is known for breaking out into impromptu songs, cracking jokes about his own life, and keeping too many left-leg socks lying around the house.

Even with a voice that turns heads, Murty didn't exactly grow up dreaming of the spotlight
In fact, he didn't plan on performing at all.
"Performing, singing, none of that was ever anywhere in my future plans," he told SAYS, adding that he would've probably been working at a call centre or as a chef otherwise.
Before music and comedy became his jam, he ran a bottled water logistics business with his brother, turning crates and deliveries into his day job.
Then in 2014, his brother dragged him to a music festival called ASOT650 and asked if he wanted to DJ or perform. He said yes.
A few months later, DJing became his world, and he continued performing from 2014 to 2019… until a road accident changed everything
What started as a spontaneous 'yes' turned into something real. And though he didn't always know why he performed, audiences sure loved it.
In 2019, a sand truck struck him, resulting in the amputation of his left leg.

After surviving recurring infections and the painful amputation that followed, Murty was left to reckon with a new reality.
He questioned not just his future on stage, but his confidence and identity — things that can be harder to reclaim than a missing limb.
And yet, here he is, still performing, still singing, and still making people laugh harder than he probably ever expected to.
Murty shared that the accident hasn't just influenced his artistry, it reshaped his perspective on life
"Comedy definitely. Singing a little. Songwriting maybe not, but what it DID do is teach me perseverance," he said.
"In today's fast paced world, people tend to think that one small inconvenience is a death sentence. It isn't, and you're in much better shape than you think you are. It just takes a little patience to get around things. And good people around you. And a sense of humour, of course," he added with that signature dry wit.
"Imagine being able to laugh off your greatest nightmares, come to terms with them, and use them to fuel your aspirations in life? That's all you really need. Superman can retire dy," he joked.

That same playful energy seeps into his music, too. In his song Good Guy, which he called his best work of 2025, he even slipped in cheeky lyrical twists, like poking fun at his own "walking funny".
"I say, 'It's not like I don't make money, or is it maybe that sometimes I kinda walk funny'. In one of my older songs titled Let Me Know, I say 'How'd we end up like this, oh I'm begging on my knees', but when I perform it live, sometimes I'll say 'KNEE' just to mess sh*t up," he said with a chuckle.

Often breaking out in song on his Instagram, his voice even caught some star attention recently. Chris Brown commented on one of his videos, "You can sing my brother."
Murty shared that one part of him is chill about it, "It's just a comment, while the other part is like, "Yeah but it's CHRIS BROWN commenting."
When asked who he'd love to work with, the singer revealed that on the local list is Yuna, "just coz of how cool she is." Internationally? "Jacquees or Chris Brown would be crazy."
But when it comes to what he hopes people would feel listening to his music? His answer isn't about awards or streams: "Any emotions you feel, as long as it's genuine… is a win for me."

Life threw him a curveball, but Murty found his rhythm
He summed up his life philosophy bluntly and beautifully: "Life didn't give me a chance, so I'm not giving it any weakness."
"The world is filled with good people, but always go about expecting nothing of it because then you'll be extra prepared to face life. If any kindness comes from the world, that's an added plus. But you gotta keep your game strong," he added.
No bitterness. No excuses. Just that unique blend of humour, honesty, and heart that leaves you with a laugh and feeling inspired.
