Less than a week after Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Fold, Huawei announced the Mate X foldable smartphone
Both phones transform from a candy-bar form factor into a large screen tablet, offer 5G, cost quite a bomb, and will be launched later this year.
But the similarities end there. Here's how the two foldable phones compare:
Screen
Galaxy Fold
One notable difference is that the Samsung Galaxy Fold takes on the form of a book, with two screens – one small screen on the outside and a large one on the inside.
When unfolded, the smartphone opens up to a 7.3-inch screen with a bulky bezel at the top of the screen.
The Galaxy Fold has a 7.3″ AMOLED Infinity Flex display that comes in a 4.2:3 aspect ratio, and a smaller separate 4.6-inch HD+ (12:9) display used for the phone mode.
Mate X
Huawei takes the opposite approach, with the Mate X's only screen hugging the frame. By folding on the outside, the screen can be used in three different ways depending on the way you hold the phone.
When the phone is unfolded, there is a large 8-inch OLED display.
When folded, the Mate X measures just 11mm in thickness, due to the fact it has no gap in its fold.

Camera
Galaxy Fold
There are a total of six cameras on the Samsung Galaxy Fold – three on the back, two on the front, and one on the cover.
At the rear, it gets a triple-camera setup offering 12MP Wide, 16MP Ultra-Wide, and 12MP Telephoto.
On the inside, it gets dual front-facing cameras (10MP + 8MP) on the Infinity Flex display. The front cover also comes with a single 10MP selfie camera.
Mate X
The Mate X features a Leica co-engineered triple-camera setup and you can use the rear display to take a selfie. A fourth camera will be unveiled by the company in March.
Huawei's folding phone has a quad-camera set-up on the rear of the phone, including a 40MP wide-angle camera, a 16MP wide camera, an 8MP telephoto camera, and a time-of-flight camera.

RAM and storage space
Galaxy Fold
Samsung's folding smartphone features 12GB of RAM.
Mate X
By comparison, Huawei's folding phone includes 8GB.

Both the Samsung and Huawei phones will features 512GB of internal storage to store things like videos, photos, and music.
Battery
Galaxy Fold
Powering Samsung's Galaxy Fold has two batteries with a combined 4,380 mAh battery.
Mate X
Huawei's Mate X also has two batteries, providing a combined capacity of 4,500mAh.
Huawei has also bumped its SuperCharging tech with a new 55W charger. It can top up the Mate X's massive battery to 85% in just 30 minutes.

Price
Mate X
The Mate X is priced at EUR 2,299 (RM10,625) and will be available in mid-2019.
It comes in one colour, Interstellar Blue.
Galaxy Fold
You can get the Galaxy Fold for USD1,980 (RM8,051) in the second quarter of 2019.
The foldable device is available in Space Silver, Cosmos Black, Martian Green, and Astro Blue.
