China's military has unveiled its latest advancement in warfare technology: armed 'robot wolves' designed to operate alongside human soldiers
The quadrupedal robots made their first public appearance in a military exercise conducted by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), according to state broadcaster CCTV.
Footage from the drill showed the robots, equipped with rifles on their backs, moving in tandem with infantry troops during a simulated ground assault.
The training exercise, which took place in a hilly region, involved two motorised infantry companies from the PLA's 76th Group Army.

The drill focused on integrating unmanned devices like the robot wolves and aerial drones into traditional combat tactics such as reconnaissance and precision strikes
"This exercise marks the first time I have commanded and operated the robot wolf," a brigade member, Hu Te, was quoted as saying by Interesting Engineering.
He added that the aim is to integrate the new equipment into soldiers' operations.

Weighing 70kg, the robots are built for surveillance, armed assault, and transport in complex environments
According to military analyst Fu Qianshao, these ground-based robots could be more effective than aerial drones and have a significant psychological impact on opposing forces.
Fu explained that the machines are designed to advance relentlessly, posing a major threat even when targeted by enemy fire.
