16 Times This Fil-Am YouTube Star Taught Us How To Embrace The Filipino Culture
She's as Filipino as the most of us: awkward, funny, and talented!

Say hello to 21-year-old Filipino-American vlogger, Jessica MacCleary who is a YouTube star and solid '[viner] (https://vine.co/u/956501311631802368?mode=grid)' since she started posting videos on both platforms back in 2013.
"**My mom is Filipina, my father is American, and I was born and raised in the United States. I love the Philippines and am very proud to be a Filipino**," shared Jessica on her [YouTube channel] (https://www.youtube.com/user/jmacarooonxo/videos).

Jessica's funny skits about what it's really like growing up as a Filipino and living with a Filipino mom and her life struggles in general are all relatable and endearing to say the least
From her stories about encountering creepy guys on the road (and praying for God to turn the traffic light to green before she gets kidnapped), to the Filipino moms' classic dialogs like, "**Aral muna. Lab das not pay da bills, ha?**" (Study first. Love does not pay the bills, ha?), Jessica definitely knows how to entertain and make you appreciate the Filipino culture more.
"**I hope to one day live in the Philippines for six months to a year just spending time with my family and immersing myself in the culture. I think that would be really fun**," shared Jessica.

Here's Jessica showing us the right way to embrace the Filipino culture:
She went to Baguio to learn about the culture of the Igorot tribe

She's not afraid to love her own…

She enjoys manning the family's sari-sari store whenever she's back home

She loves chichirya as much as Americans love their Lays and Doritos

Check out her video trying Filipino sari-sari snacks [here] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBjIS2w0J0g)!
She turns into #NanayMode if she has to take care of her younger siblings or cousins

Like most Filipinos, she admires the country's badass main public transport, trike (tricycle), and hops on it to have her photo taken as if to appear that she can drive it IRL (lol)

Every time she returns to the Philippines, she tries to travel as much as she can!
Even though she struggles speaking the Filipino language, Jessica is quite perseverant on learning the malalim words
She buys pasalubong before leaving Baguio. Every time.

She loves eating Adobo!
She washes her clothes in the batsa with detergent bar! (lol)

She drinks Buko juice!

She loves [AlDub] (http://says.com/ph/fun/quiz-aldub-how-much-of-a-fan-are-you), too!
Image via Facebook
She fills up gifts in her Balikbayan box to be sent to her family in the Philippines just in time for Christmas!
Image via Facebook
She knows the struggles every Filipino encounters — and laughs at them just like any other Filipino!
Most importantly, she turns every bad experience into a positive one — and that makes her a true Filipino!
Just like when she was just a kid and was a victim of bullying for being nerdy, for loving books, and for wearing super thick glasses among others, she turned those bad experiences as her motivational pills to become the best version of herself.
