Kedah and Perlis have begin cloud seeding operations (OPA) as dam water levels deplete
The National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) said water levels are currently at critical levels as of Saturday, 10 May, reported Bernama.
Cloud seeding operations will be carried out on the recommendation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to boost water levels, with the first phase running from 10 May to 12 May, followed by a second phase from 17 May to 19 May.
NADMA said that while the northern region has experienced increased rainfall in recent days, the amount of water entering dam reservoirs remains minimal.

On the first day of operations, a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) C-130 aircraft dispersed four tanks of salt solution into the air
The 6,000 litres of salt solution will provide particles for supercooled water droplets in moisture-rich clouds to freeze onto, causing them to grow heavier.
Once heavy enough, these crystals will fall and melt, forming rainfall.
The Timah Tasoh Dam in Perlis as well as Ahning, Pedu, Beris, and Muda dams in Kedah will be targeted for cloud seeding.
These operations are aimed at preventing further decline in reservoir levels, which would affect agriculture and household supplies in the region.
