JPJ Suspends Officer For Dangerous Driving That Nearly Caused An Accident

An oncoming car had to swerve to avoid a head-on crash with the JPJ patrol vehicle.

A Road Transport Department (JPJ) officer has been suspended from duty after being caught on video dangerously overtaking another vehicle on a double white line

Dashcam footage of the incident quickly went viral on social media, sparking public outrage over the reckless manoeuvre that endangered other road users.

In the clip, the JPJ patrol car is seen attempting to overtake a lorry, forcing an oncoming car to swerve and avoid a collision.

Harian Metro reported that the incident happened on 9 July in Simpang Pulai, Perak.

JPJ has since released a statement confirming that the officer involved has been suspended pending a full investigation

The department stressed that it will not compromise on or protect any officer found to have committed an offence.

"The department is committed to upholding the integrity and quality of our officers' service, and we will not hesitate to take stern action against those who violate regulations," the statement read.
