Day Two of ESL One Genting 2018 is done and dusted! Only two teams remain and will battle it out to become the champion of ESL One Genting 2018.
Dota fans watching all over the world were treated to another day of great Dota 2 games.
Surprise, surprise as Chong "Ohaiyo" Xin Khoo had to stand-in for Team Secret's Adrian "Fata" Trinks, who couldn't make it due to illness.
The crowd went wild as soon as the announcement of Ohaiyo standing-in was made public. Chants of Ohaiyo's name rang around the arena multiple times.
Sadly, another 2 teams were eliminated today – home crowd favourite, Team Secret and Evil Geniuses. Which means, we are only one Best-of-5 (BO5) series from crowning the champion of ESL One Genting 2018.
The final two teams of the ESL One Genting 2018 are Team Liquid and Newbee
At least USD80,000 (RM300,000) secured in the bag for both teams as a result of being the last two teams standing in the tournament.
However, only one team will walk away with the ESL One Trophy, USD160,000 (RM600,000) and 200 Qualifying Points.
In the first semifinal match of the day, Newbee took down Team Secret in two straight games
Newbee drew first blood by taking game one of the BO3 series. Game one started with Team Secret taking an early kill lead, 5-1 but Newbee slowly crawled back and never looked threatened since the early game to close out game one strongly.
Team Secret looked like they were about to claw back in the series after taking 2 lanes of raxes and a 20k gold lead. The turning point of the comeback was when Sccc's Medusa from Newbee picked up a Divine Rapier.
It was certainly sad to see Team Secret with two Malaysians bowed out of the tournament but Newbee definitely were the better team today.
Meanwhile, in the second match of the day, Team Liquid defeated Evil Geniuses 2-0 in a convincing fashion
The International 7 champion, Team Liquid never looked troubled by Evil Geniuses in both matches as the former tore apart the North American squad in two very quick games.
The North American Squad of Evil Geniuses joins China's Newbee in third/fourth place, going home with USD40,000 (RM150,000) and 40 valuable Qualifying Points each.
The BO5 Grand Finals will happen tomorrow, Sunday from 3pm
