An 82-year-old man from China's Guangdong province is looking for someone to care for his beloved cat after his death, and he's offering his entire inheritance in return

The man, surnamed Long, has no children and has lived alone since his wife passed away over a decade ago.

He adopted four stray cats on a rainy day, but only one, named Xianba, is still with him.

Now, Long is actively searching for someone to care for Xianba unconditionally, offering his flat and life savings as part of the deal

"I am willing to give everything to whoever is willing to take good care of my cat," Long told Guangdong Radio and Television.

Despite the offer, Long hasn't found the right person, and online reactions have been mixed.

"If no one is willing to take the offer, it is either because they do not truly love cats or the old man's conditions are too strict," one person wrote.

Others expressed concern that bad actors might step forward just for the money.

"The old man might be willing to give away his property, but the person who accepts the offer might face lawsuits from the man's relatives," another user pointed out.

While the terms of the agreement remain unclear, China's Civil Code allows individuals to will their estate to whomever they choose, including strangers

Some netizens have stepped up, saying they'd adopt the cat without taking a cent.

"I do not need his money," one said.

Another added, "I once considered the same thing. I'd give money just so my cat wouldn't become someone else's burden."
