A young man in Hangzhou, China, reportedly took extreme measures to mend his broken heart by intentionally getting lost in the wilderness for six days without his mobile phone

The man, identified as Xiaolin, was reported missing by his brother, who had not heard from him for three days.

According to South China Morning Post, police in the Yuhang District found his flat empty, with his phone left behind.

Surveillance footage last placed Xiaolin near the Dalang Mountain area on 21 June, prompting a massive search involving over 100 officers, police dogs, and drones.

After a six-day search, Xiaolin was finally spotted on surveillance cameras in a park nearly 40km away from where he started his journey

Yuhang Police Station Deputy Director, Zhu Liliang, said that Xiaolin had ventured into the mountains to clear his mind after a recent breakup.

"When we found him, his clothes were in tatters," Zhu said.
