1. In 2008, Nikki's mom gave her a purity ring to symbolize her promise to wait until marriage before engaging in sexual activities
In an [interview] (http://www.pep.ph/news/41636/nikki-gil-reveals-third-party-caused-breakup-with-billy-crawford-there-were-always-a-lot-of-warnings-but-i-chose-to-ignore-them) with Pep.ph, she told her commitment to abstinence.
"**Nobody told me to stay a virgin, or because I'm a stuck-up prude *na* holy-holy. It's my choice**."

2. BJ had a secret crush on Nikki while they were both studying in Ateneo de Manila University! They literally bumped into each other at one point, but never had the chance to get to know each other.
"God was probably giggling to Himself because I later found out that BJ would always see me walk past the cafeteria to wait by the chapel for my carpool. And that we, in fact, at one point, literally bumped into each other in front of the conyo bench. Only, I didn't drop my books and meet his gaze and fade into slow motion. Apparently, I just gave him a blank look, and walked away while his barkada burst into fits of laughter," said Nikki on her [blog] (http://www.nikkigil.com/#!The-Wedding-Preps/ktuz4/575a312d0cf24c9615a6fd43).
"When BJ told me this story, I sighed and asked '*Why hadn't we met earlier?*'. To which his reply was, '**I used to pop my collar. You wouldn't have given me the time of day.**' Well, true :p" added Nikki.

"I can't believe (God) had all this planned out even before the first day I set my eyes upon you in school when I was too *torpe* to go up to you and introduce myself," said BJ to Nikki during his [wedding vow] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwM-yymrk64).

3. Their relationship is the God-kind, according to Nikki. They also have the same church friends for years, but they really never got the chance to know each other personally!

"I wanted to know why (God) hadn't introduced me to BJ earlier when we went to the same school, had the same church friends, went to the same parties and weddings. I wanted to know why He couldn't have saved me the trouble and given me the answer from day one. ("*Anak, it's going to be this chinito guy, his name is BJ Albert. Don't worry, I made him cute, smart and mabango just like you asked. You'll meet him in 2013, so for now, wag ka na muna makulit ha?*") Hahaha!," said Nikki on her [blog] (http://www.nikkigil.com/#!The-Wedding-Preps/ktuz4/575a312d0cf24c9615a6fd43).
4. They had the sincerest wedding vows that will make you jot down notes for future reference!

"I promise to comfort and carry you when life weighs you down. I promise to be your biggest fan and biggest supporter for whatever it is that you wanted to do. **I promise to work hard to be a worthy spiritual leader to our family.** I promise to listen to you and to always strive to be better. I promise to never stop courting you. **Thank you for saying 'yes' and trusting me with the rest of your life. I promise to love you forever**," vowed BJ to Nikki.
"**I promise to honor you, respect you and serve you. I promise to try to make you happy as you make me. I promise to nurture your passions and enjoy this beautiful life our God has blessed us with.** I promise to fill our home with love, music and laughter. To raise God-fearing children. I promise never to go to bed without resolving our conflicts… **I will love you with all my heart every day**," vowed Nikki to BJ.

5. They both prayed for each other… and got their prayers answered!
"**It wasn't a one-time, fireworks, eureka, slow-motion, running into each other's arms kind of moment. It was a gradual but consistent build-up of trust and friendship…** I prayed for you as a little girl and, again, as a few weeks ago, asking God to keep safe the man of my prayers. And I will continue to pray for you as a a wife… I love you for being a man of God, seeking His approval in all that you do. Preaching with passion and living it for those around you to see. I love you for all that you are right now and I offer myself to you: my past, my present, my future," vowed Nikki to BJ.
"God gave me exactly what I needed. Someone who puts Him first and reminds me to do the same. Someone that loves her family. Someone wise. Someone that I know will help raise good children. 6. Nikki and BJ's celebrity ninongs (godfathers), Gary Valenciano and Jose Mari Chan, know that they fit each other spiritually

"**Both of you have found the miracle of love**. There's rejoicing in heaven! All the angels are singing! And tonight, happiness overflows among your families and your friends a lifetime of love and a love to last your lifetime," said Jose Mari Chan to Nikki and BJ.
"You know Nikki, I think it was clear to our entire family… BJ, I did tell you about your dad. We were traveling or we were out somewhere and we talked for awhile. And that was enough for me to know that **Nikki had made the right choice**. May God bless you beyond measure," said Gary Valenciano to Nikki and BJ.

7. And of course, both of their parents approved of their marriage — which is the most important thing to consider before you get wed!

"God answered my prayer and gave me a good-looking and kind-hearted son. Thank you everyone. I love you both," said Dino Gil to Nikki and BJ.
"I'm very happy, Nikki, because I'm welcoming a wonderful daughter. Thank you very much, Nikki, for coming into the life of my son," said Lily Chan, mother of BJ, to Nikki.

"Nikki, we release you to BJ with a light heart and a grateful heart because we know that you will be in very good hands," said Julie Gil to her daughter Nikki.
