Hataman, who came up with the idea out of his love for nature, is the son of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Governor Mujiv Hataman
It actually started as a simple class project that became an award-winning innovation. "Growing up there, I developed this love for the environment. I did some research on how plastic was actually doing a lot of damage to the environment. Right now, I'm actually already trying to patent this. In the future, if I go into business, I might be able to implement this," young scientist Amin Hataman said, according to [CNN] (http://cnnphilippines.com/videos/2015/09/22/Filipino-teenager-invents-biodegradable-plastic.html).
For his invention, he received a gold medal from the [International Young Inventors' Project Olympiad] (http://iyipo.ge/en/) in Tbilisi, Georgia, placed at the International Environment sustainability Project Olympiad ([INESPO] (http://www.inespo.org)) in Turkey, and a bronze medal at the International Sustainable World Project ([I-SWEEP] (http://isweeep.org)) in Texas.
