ZUS Coffee has assured that the employee who was yelled at and had thrown coffee thrown on her by a customer remains with the company

In a statement yesterday, 12 November, the coffee chain confirmed it filed a police report on Monday, 10 November, to ensure the employee's safety and to protect her privacy.

The company added that the employee has been placed on paid leave to recover from the incident.

"Her wellbeing continues to be our priority," ZUS Coffee said, adding that it does not tolerate aggressive behaviour and is committed to keeping its stores safe for both staff and customers.

The clarification comes after some netizens speculated that the barista had been dismissed following the viral incident, while others threatened to boycott the brand if she were fired.

The company said it is also taking steps to strengthen staff training and support systems to help employees handle similar situations with professionalism and empathy

The coffee chain also urged the public, once again, to refrain from circulating the video as it could expose the employee's identity.

Earlier this week, a video showing a customer shouting, spilling coffee, and throwing a cup at a barista at a ZUS Coffee outlet went viral.

The company had earlier said it would not tolerate any form of disrespect towards its staff and would conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
