A pregnant influencer's bespoke wedding gift was crushed after a child's interaction with a display caused it to fall

Posting to Douyin, Zhang Kaiyi, who has 13.6 million followers, revealed that the incident took place on 13 December 2023 at the Beijing X Museum.

Surveillance footage shows a boy wiping the clear protective case to help his mother take a better photo, causing the unsecured display to topple and crush the crown.

Zhang, who is seven months pregnant, expressed deep frustration as the headgear was a one-of-a-kind symbol of her marriage

The 2kg item is valued at nearly two million yuan (RM1.15 million), with expert estimates for the manufacturing costs alone ranging between 200,000 and 400,000 yuan (RM115,000 and RM230,000, respectively).

Despite the significant financial loss, Zhang stated she is not seeking compensation from the family because the she and her husband had purchased insurance for the exhibit.

The influencer urged parents to be more vigilant at museums and reminded them not to "just play with their phones" while children handle delicate displays

The incident sparked a heated online debate, with some netizens blaming the mother's lack of supervision while others argued the museum should have secured the pedestal.

To resolve the matter, Zhang confirmed that she, her husband, the insurance company, and the museum will collectively bear the financial loss.
